富岡町の「夜ノ森の桜」、日本三大桜のひとつ三春町の「滝桜」、東北に桃源郷ありと言われる「花見山」、そ して会津地方の田園地帯に咲く種まき桜。東北の原風景にとけ込む桜はまさに日本人の心の風景と言える。 福島の桜は4月上旬に浜通りのいわきで咲き始め、1ヶ月以上かけて県内を横断し、最後は会津地方の裏磐梯に春 の訪れを告げる。 桜前線と共に移動しながら県内各地の桜を撮影し、桜と桜に関わる人物の声を集めたドキュメン タリー。 桜は人が植えないと育たない植物であり、桜がある場所には人の営みがある。桜前線を追いかけることで、県内 の場所場所によって違う、置かれている状況の人たちの声を広く拾っていく。 東北地方に住む人々の暖かい人柄や、美しい原風景といった本来その土地が持っていた魅力、そして発生 から時 間が経ち県外では風化しつつある震災の現状を描写し、今の福島の姿を桜を通じて描く。
PFFアワード2016ノミネート、全国各地で上映会を実施、海外ではイスラエル、アイスランドなどで上映をした。
Traveling Fukushima with Cherry Blossoms

The cherry blossoms of Tomioka Town’s "Yonomori Sakura," the famous "Taki Zakura" in Miharu Town, one of Japan’s three great cherry trees, the "Hanamiyama" in Tohoku, known as a paradise on earth, and the sowing sakura blooming in the rural areas of Aizu. These cherry blossoms, blending seamlessly into the original landscape of Tohoku, represent the very essence of the Japanese spirit.
In Fukushima, the cherry blossoms begin to bloom in early April in the coastal area of Iwaki, and over the course of more than a month, they move across the prefecture, finally reaching the backlands of Aizu, announcing the arrival of spring. This documentary follows the cherry blossom front across the region, capturing the cherry blossoms in various locations while also collecting the voices of those connected to the blossoms.
Cherry blossoms cannot grow without human intervention, and wherever they bloom, human activity exists. By tracing the cherry blossom front, the film gathers the diverse voices of people in different regions, reflecting their circumstances. It portrays the warmth of the people of Tohoku, the beautiful original landscapes of the land, and the situation of the post-earthquake disaster, which, while fading in areas outside Fukushima, still lingers in the region. Through the lens of cherry blossoms, the film paints a portrait of contemporary Fukushima.
Nominated for PFF Award 2016, screened across Japan and internationally, including in Israel and Iceland.
