上部の作品は風上の光を捉えた写真作品「Windgraph」を立体化した風で動く、風を可視化した翼である。 目に見えない風はどのように生まれ、やってくるのだろうか。コロナウイルスに翻弄された我々は世の中が改めて不確実なも のだということを目の当たりにした。気まぐれに吹く風は不確実の最たるものだろう。 それと同時に風は雲を作り、運び、雨を降らせ、時に大地を潤おし、そして時に災害となって我々の命は脅かされる。まさ に自然によって我々は生かされていることの象徴的存在である。
この作品の下部にあるもう1つの風上は、人工エネルギーである。電球とソーラーパネルという電気エネルギーの象徴を利 用して、モーターやギヤを介しタービンが動き、1分間のうち30秒間の間隔で定時的に風を起こす。 金属を中心に制作されたこの立体は人工であり、エネルギーを象徴する。
時折自然の風で動いているように見えるこの作品の風上を辿ると人工的なエネルギーが関わっていることがわかる。一方で windgraphは自然の風上を写真として捉える視点を持つ。人と自然の双方の関わりを風上という不可視な存在から考える。
Capturing the Windward

The upper part of the artwork is a wind-driven wing that visualizes the wind, created by transforming the photographic work Windgraph, which captures the light of the windward side, into a three-dimensional form. How is the invisible wind born, and where does it come from? As we were thrown into turmoil by the coronavirus, we were once again confronted with the uncertainty of the world. The wind, blowing unpredictably, is perhaps the ultimate embodiment of uncertainty.
At the same time, the wind forms clouds, carries them, brings rain, nourishes the land, and sometimes becomes a disaster that threatens our lives. It is a symbolic presence that reminds us that we are sustained by nature.
Another "windward" at the lower part of this artwork represents artificial energy. Using symbols of electrical energy—light bulbs and solar panels—a turbine is set into motion through motors and gears, generating wind at regular intervals for 30 seconds every minute. This structure, primarily made of metal, is artificial and symbolizes energy.
While the work may occasionally appear to be moved by natural wind, tracing its windward origin reveals the involvement of artificial energy. Meanwhile, Windgraph takes a perspective that captures the natural windward in photographs. Through this invisible presence called "windward," the work explores the interconnection between humanity and nature.
